For Community Organizations, CovCare Puts A Focus On Donations and Giving Back To Neighbors In Need Of PPE

In the past seven months since the Coronavirus pandemic hit the United States, CovCare has worked closely with nonprofit organizations in donating facemasks for community outreach events with Women of Color International Association (pictured above), RideShare Drivers United, Companions Journeying Together, and Ballin’ 4 Peace among other community organizations.

When it comes time for CovCare to partner with community organizations, being able to be in a position as a medical supplies company to help give back by donating supplies often results in a win-win situation. 

That has been the reality for CovCare over the past 7 months of enduring the Coronavirus pandemic and continues today by lending a helping hand to community-based programs and organizations. Since the onset of COVID-19, CovCare quickly became an active supporter in South Central Los Angeles with Women of Color International Association, Rideshare Drivers United in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles, and Companions Journeying Together in Illinois, among other organizations by donating facemasks to be distributed. CovCare (along with Wooter Apparel) also recently served as event sponsors for the Pro Am Basketball Tournament presented by non-profit organization, Ballin’ 4 Peace at Queens Week, where the community outreach event focused on spreading peace through sports, keeping people safe, and being compassionate to one another during trying times.

“Too many of our communities go unnoticed and fall beyond the radar of positive impact,” said Elissa J. Granger, the Women of Color International Association (WOCIA) Founder who received 3-ply disposable facemasks from CovCare to be included in PPE COVID-19 Care Kits handed out in her native, South Central Los Angeles. 

“I would have never thought the impact of what I was doing would make so many waves in the community. I really appreciate CovCare taking the time and energy to respond to that initial request and for supporting WOCIA. As a nonprofit starting out, one of the toughest things I have learned is getting someone and or a company to say ‘yes’, and show support. CovCare has done just that, and for that I will always be grateful!”

For WOCIA, teaming up with the St. Mary’s Academy athletics and girls basketball program was the perfect assist to serve the communities in Inglewood and South Central by distributing Care Kits and protecting each other as the Coronavirus continues to impact communities across the country. Whereas solving the PPE shortage across the United States was the initial goal of Wooter Apparel and GameBreaker coming together to form CovCare, assisting with donation requests that come in from organizations, hospitals, and essential workers in need remains a priority.

 “In March, once Covid-19 turned its ugly head and sports were paused, we brainstormed the best way we can help fight the pandemic and at the same time–give back, ” CovCare CEO, Alex Aleksandrovski said in a recent interview with Thrive Global.

 “We launched CovCare and made sure giving back was at the center of our business model: From day one, we donated 1 mask for every 10 sold.”
